Where are the games located at?

The Great Basin Scottish Highland Games will be held at the Gandolfo Arena 2200 Loop Road, Sparks, Nevada 89434.

What are the hours of operation?

The event runs from 9 am – 5 pm on Saturday and from 9 am – 3 pm on Sunday. Opening ceremonies begin at 10 pm on Saturday and closing ceremonies are usually around 3 pm on Sunday.

How much are tickets?

General admission for one day is $10. Kids under 8 are free. Athlete ticket are$35. All ticket pricing is available on the tickets page

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Yes, you can! We sell tickets at the event, and we also sell tickets in advance through our website. You can always buy them early and skip the line!

Can I bring my dog to the event?

Leashed, well behaved dogs ok at the discretion of staff. 

Can I bring my cooler into the event?

We do not allow outside food or beverages inside the park during the highland games. Proceeds from beer sales go directly to putting on the next year’s games, so buy a pint inside and support the highland games!

How about my lawn chair?

Yes, you can! We encourage you to set up shop and enjoy the main stage, piping and drumming contest, or even heavy athletics, just be prepared to move if asked by a highland games volunteer.

What time does the gate open?

The gates open to the general public at 8:30 am both days and open to competitors at 9 am so they have time to prepare.

Is there a shuttle to the games?

Unfortunately, no, our liability insurance does not allow us to shuttle people to the event. Both lyft and uber are now available in reno as affordable means of transportation to the park, or you can carpool.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Yes, we have a suggested donation for parking of $5, just follow the instructions of our awesome parking staff to get the best spot.

Is there seating?

We do not have seating set up in front of the main stage beside the vip tent, but you can bring a folding lawn chair if you’d like.

Are there kid's activities?

Yes! We have opportunities for children to feed highland coos, and even practice with some of the equipment. As well as a kids area with some games.

Is there re-entry to the games?

There is same-day re-entry to the great basin highland games, when you leave one of our gates you will be prompted by staff to get a hand stamp in case you have to run to your car.
